Living in Crowley, Texas
Crowley
A compact railroad town on Fort Worth's south edge, ringed by new subdivisions.
What it's like
The short version
Crowley covers about 7.5 square miles at FM 1187 and FM 731, 12 to 15 miles from downtown Fort Worth, with Burleson to the south. Its Main Street was rebuilt with two roundabouts, buried power lines and a new plaza. Most new housing is on the north side, and the school district and ZIP code run well past the city limits.
What's for sale
New construction leads what is marketed here. Published starting prices in late 2026 included D.R. Horton's Sunnycreek from $268,720, Mattamy's Creekside of Crowley from $287,940, and David Weekley's Karis Cottage Series from $360,990 on 35-foot homesites. Hunters Ridge offers 60-foot homesites from about $300,990. Check whether a community is in Crowley or in Fort Worth city limits.

The honest part
What to know first
- The City of Crowley rate rose about 9 percent for 2026, from 0.637529 to 0.69626, which erases much of its 2025 edge.
- Dining and shopping in town are limited. City officials said many Main Street businesses closed in recent years and that they want residents to shop locally instead of in Burleson or Fort Worth.
- Southbound I-35W backs up at the light at FM 1187, the road that links Crowley to the interstate.
- Homes took a median 77 days to sell in September 2026, and the median price was down 4.5 percent from a year earlier.
- A Crowley address does not always mean Crowley city services or rates, because the ZIP code reaches into Fort Worth.
- Deer Creek runs through Bicentennial Park and has been called flood-prone, so check flood maps near the creek.
Not its strength: walkable, transit options, vibrant, big-city energy, restaurants, nightlife, shopping, lake days, golf, land and acreage, horses welcome, established neighborhoods, luxury homes.

- A 24-inch water transmission line, elevated tank and ground storage were in planning for the north side as of October 2024.
- Concept plans for Bicentennial Park call for restoring Deer Creek and its floodplain. No timing yet.
- I-35W study options include a rebuilt FM 1187 interchange with no official start date yet.
Taxes
