The honest part
What to know first
- Major retail and full-service groceries take a 15 to 25 minute drive to Alliance, Keller or nearby corridors.
- Alliance Airport and a major intermodal hub sit along the city's edge.
Not its strength: transit options, vibrant, big-city energy, restaurants, shopping, lake days, golf, established neighborhoods.
Not rated yet: walkable, a real downtown, nightlife, horses welcome. That means I haven't confirmed it either way, not that it isn't here.
Get outside
- Haslet Community Park
18-hole disc golf course, sand volleyball, basketball, pavilion and walking trails. - John Gammill Park
Covered pavilion, fenced all-abilities play area and shade trees next to the library. - TAP Trail
A 1.4-mile trail, on top of about three-quarters of a mile at Community Park. - Nance Field
Baseball fields on Schoolhouse Road.
On the calendar
- Farmers market
Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon in season at Haslet Community Park.
What's coming
- A city street project in the capital plan.
- A grade-separated crossing in the city capital plan.
- A study of the park system funded in the city budget.
