What it's like

The short version

Royse City sits mainly in the northeastern corner of Rockwall County, with parts in Collin and Hunt counties, just north of Interstate 30 about 33 miles from Dallas. The railroad brought the town in 1885, and its Main Street district has been in the Texas Main Street program since 2007.

What's for sale

Homes sold at a median near $322,000 in the three months ending August 2026, with 107 homes sold in August. New construction added about $171 million in value to the fiscal 2026 tax rolls, and master-planned communities are expanding across the city.

The honest part

What to know first

  • One residential address in Royse City scores 4 on Walk Score.
  • Royse City is not among the 12 cities in DART's service area.
  • The combined 2025 rate runs about 2.17 per $100 on a Hunt County address.

Not its strength: walkable, quiet, small-town pace, vibrant, big-city energy, shopping, parks and trails, lake days, golf, luxury homes.

Not rated yet: transit options, restaurants, nightlife, land and acreage, horses welcome. That means I haven't confirmed it either way, not that it isn't here.
